The company

Azienda Agricola Il Frantoio di Vicopisano, was awarded the Organic Farming certificate; it owns approximately 3,000 olive trees of the “frantoio” varietal on the nearby hillside. With these olives they produce the “VICOPISANOLIO – TUSCAN PGI ORGANIC” Extra virgin Olive oil which is the Commercial Farm’s crowning achievement. The Commercial Farm also owns a vast orchard with peach, pear and kiwi trees; a pine forest where many free-range wild boars live; an extensive vegetable garden where typical Tuscan vegetables are grown; a large henhouse amoung the olive groves where the chickens are truly “free range”.

Both the olive grove as well as the fruit orchard and the vegetable garden are cultivated organically using natural fertilizers and, thanks to the unparalleled microclimate of Monte Pisano, yield excellent fruit, both in quantity and, more importantly, quality-wise. The “VICOPISANOLIO – TUSCAN PGI ORGANIC” Extra virgin Olive oil has a lovely green-gold colour. If it is consumed when it has just been pressed, it is lively, stings the palate slightly and has a pleasantly bitter flavour. Over time it mellows and sweetens.

Azienda Agricola il Frantoio of Vicopisano is part of the 5T Academy (Territory, Tradition, Typicality, Traceability, Transparence) and of theMaster oil-makers as well as being the constituent member of the TUSCAN Oil Consortium and the Strada dell’Olio (Oil Route) of Monte Pisano.

Thanks our Oil’s excellent quality and flavour, an increasing number of Guidebooks and gastronomy magazines are talking about us and our farm.

The commitment and consistency with which we go about our work has met with vast approval: from the 2003 Special Mention award in the Fruttato Delicato category of the XII International Golden Lion of the Master Oil-makers to the “Golden medal” received in 2005 in the “Los Angeles Country Fair Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition” and lastly in 2009 the 1st Prize in the Organic category of the “PISA, a unique land… and Oil” show.
